You can now visit our on-line shop and purchase a copy of The Centenarians: Life's Quiet Sunset today. 2nd Annual General MeetingOur 2nd Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 1 August 2009 at 2:00pm following our cemetery tour at the Pioneer Cemetery - "The Tragic '30s: Decade of Adventure". Members and non-members alike are welcome to attend the AGM. More... Red Cross Victorian Bushfire AppealThe Friends raised another $23 at our recent "The Tragic '20s" tour held on 17 May 2009 towards the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal. This brings the total for the two tours raised to $63 - $1 per person. More... Milestone reached - 100th financial memberThe Friends have reached a significant milestone with the signing of our 100th financial member on 26 April 2009. Formed in May 2007, to reach 100 members in less than two years augurs well for our future and testimony of the hard work and commitment to seeing the Friends play an important role in promoting the Cheltenham cemeteries. Roll-Up BannerThe Friends have been successful in our grant application for a roll-up banner valued at $250. As one of the few affiliated member societies to participate in History Week 2008, we are grateful to the Royal Historical Society of Victoria Inc. and the Vera Moore Foundation for their recognition of our work. The banner will be available in time for History Week 2009 in October and we look forward to unveiling it on one of our tours. Launch of Connecting DescendantsIn a first of its kind, the Friends have launched a new service, free for our members. Connecting Descendants utilises the power of the internet to connect persons who share a common interest. Anyone can register the details of ancestors buried in the Cheltenham cemeteries and let the Friends connect you with others who share a common interest. More...
