Forthcoming ToursBy popular demand, we will be repeating "The Tragic '30s: Decade of Adventure" tour of the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery (Charman Road) on Saturday 1 August 2009 at 12:00pm. Bookings essential. Use the tour booking form below or ring (03) 5420 7671 to secure your place. Check out our tours during Seniors' Week in October. We are always willing to undertake a private tour for a minimum of ten persons. Contact us if you are interested in a private tour. Notes for participantsLocation: Tours of the Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery (Google Map) leave inside the main entrance gates on Charman Road, Cheltenham (opposite the Cheltenham railway station). Tours of the Cheltenham Memorial Park (Google Map) leave inside the main entrance gates on Wangara Road, Cheltenham unless otherwise stated. Cost: $10.00 for adults ($5.00 for members) and children (under 18 years) are free. Price includes refreshments and a tour guide. Payment can be made on the day. Duration: Approximately 90 minutes including a 15-20 minute break for refreshments. It is essential to dress appropriately for the conditions of the day as there is little shelter within both cemeteries. The Pioneer Cemetery is quite steep in places and whilst the tour follows the safest paths, we advise participants to take care if you have difficulty walking. What others have to say..."It was a lovely surprise to have home made snacks for afternoon tea and to be made to feel welcome by the other members there." - Anon feedback from participant who attended "The Tragic '20s" tour held on 1 March 2009. "This was simply a magnificent tour!!! It was extremely well researched and planned - pre booking, pamphlet and money collection was well organised and efficient (by your "clerk"!!), the tour itself was very interesting and the right length with great refreshments and I liked the touch with the rose-"xxx xxx, you are not forgotten". For value, efficiency and interest, this tour is superb!! Well done!!" - John (who attended "The Tragic '20s" tour held on 1 March 2009) "We thoroughly enjoyed it, and as familiar as we are with the Old Chelt Cemetery, found it fascinating to learn about the lives of those who featured in your tour, some of whom lived near, and are now buried amongst our ancestors. The extensive research and effort you put into the tour was obvious, and very much appreciated. Not forgetting Vivienne for her scrumptious refreshments. Well done and thanks to you both!!" - Ric (who attended "The Tragic '20s" tour held on 1 March 2009) Past toursPast cemetery tours have included the following themes:
